Unitree sent us their Go2 Pro robot dog to try out so we put it through a gauntlet of challenges in our first 24 hours together.

We built an obstacle course in the CNET office to test the robot’s AI obstacle avoidance mode. Then, we ran the Go2 Pro up and down stairs and rocky hills to test its balance. We tested its autonomous follow mode with a stroll through the park. We even brought it to a dog park to get some reactions and see how it compares to the real deal.

Unitree’s Go2 line of quadruped robots includes the most affordable Go2 AIR, the mid-level Go2 Pro with additional features such as AI follow mode and the Go2 EDU, which is designed for developers and institutions interested in teaching the robot new abilities.

Check out the video in this article to see our first 24 hours with the Go2 Pro. You can also watch our unboxing video down below. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go as planned!
